Disability Access

If you have special needs, please contact us so that we can discuss your requirements and how these can be met.

Freedom of Information Act 2000

We have adopted a “Publication Scheme” to meet new requirements to make information about the course available to the general public. The scheme covers the following types of information:

  • Prospectus (Website),
  • Strategic Board minutes,
  • Curriculum & Teaching Standards Policies,
  • Academic Management documents.

All of these documents can be read in our office.

This new legislation does not compromise the Data Protection Act and all personal information about trainees and members of staff remains confidential.

Public Transport

The mainline train station for Wickford, Billericay, Chelmsford, Witham and South Woodham Ferrers is on the Liverpool Street line. Basildon is on the Fenchurch Street line. Trainees who do not have their own transport normally find other trainees on the course who will help out with lifts to the various centres for lectures.

Obtaining your first Teaching Post

Trainees do not normally experience difficulty in obtaining quality teaching posts, as our quality reputation stretches well beyond the county of Essex. Once you have completed your teacher training and the induction year (achieved Qualified Teacher Status) then from September 2017 you can expect to start as a newly qualified teacher in England and Wales on £22,917 a year (or £28,660 a year if you work in inner London).

Student Placements

We work closely with our partnership schools and try to place at least two trainees in a school so they can support one another and share ideas. At lecture times trainees meet up as a group and can share their classroom experiences and offer subject knowledge support to one another.

Everyone is still treated as an individual and the course is tailor made to meet and support individual needs.

Study Facilities

There are lecture and extensive library resources, including online journals and research papers, available at the University library.

There is a Student Advisor available from the University to discuss aspects of the PGCE element of our course, but you also have the guidance and support facilities of the Executive Director and the administration team of Billericay Educational Consortium.
